What You’ll Learn

After completing this master’s degree in project management, you will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge and technical expertise in the management of a single project to meet stakeholder needs within constraints while aligning with traditional project management frameworks and producing industry-standard deliverables.
  • Effectively manage a single team to meet stakeholder needs within constraints while aligning with agile project management frameworks and industry best practices.
  • Show how successful project management will use stakeholder engagement, communication, leadership, and teamwork that is ethical and culturally aware.
  • Link stakeholder objectives to sustainable competitive strategies that can deliver value across operational functions through the use of traditional and agile techniques within the stakeholder’s specific financial and organizational context.

Career Opportunities

Project managers are needed in a wide variety of industries, but especially within healthcare, IT, engineering, construction and manufacturing. In its most recent analysis of the job outlook for project managers, Project Management Job Growth and Talent Gap 2017–2027, PMI projects that U.S. job openings in project management will grow by 2.1 million over the 2017-2027 period.1

Other sources also indicate rapid growth for project managers. For example, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 8% growth for construction managers over the 2019-2029 period—a rate of growth that is twice as fast as the 4% rise in overall job openings during the same period.2

the Master of Science in Project Management, you must hold a baccalaureate degree in a related field from a regionally accredited U.S. institution (or international equivalent). We will also consider applicants who hold a baccalaureate in an unrelated field but who have relevant professional experience.
