In a little over 40 years, society has gone from being enhanced by science, engineering and technology to being powered by them. Higher education has taken a little while longer to catch up. That’s why Harrisburg University of Science and Technology was founded—to accelerate career-focused education in order to meet growing demand for professionals who understand STEM concepts and apply it in the workplace.

Choose us if you want:

Programs that answer to—and anticipate—the marketplace. STEM-related career paths are growing. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates overall job growth of 4% over the 2019-2029 period.1 In STEM-related fields, job growth projections are higher.

  • Computer and information technology occupations – 11% job growth, 2019-20292
  • Mathematics-related occupations – 27% job growth3
  • Life, physical and social science occupations – 5% job growth4
  • Healthcare occupations – 15% job growth5

Earn a degree with HU, and you’ll have skills and knowledge that can apply to these and other exciting fields.

A more affordable education. HU is a private non-profit university. We haven’t raised tuition rates since 2012 and we aren’t planning to raise them soon.* The result is tuition that’s among the lowest any private university in Pennsylvania offers. Plus, financial aid and scholarship opportunities are available if you qualify. That’s why HU graduates complete their degrees with $6,000 less in student debt compared to the national average.

A student body that reflects today’s America. The National Center for Education Statistics reports that in 2018, only 15% of women who had graduated from college held a bachelor’s or higher in a STEM field. Likewise, only 17.9% of STEM graduates were Black.6

By contrast, our student body is currently 40% women and 60% ethnic minority, including 36% Black students.7 We want to increase opportunity for—and capitalize on the talent of—people who have traditionally been discouraged or excluded from pursuing STEM education. At HU, we are dedicated to diversity, and you are welcome here.

Online programs that bring you the best education HU offers—wherever you are. We know that college education needs to be more accessible than ever. As an institution focused on STEM education, we also know that means tapping into the power of online learning. Our online programs are built to offer you a university experience that’s just as rigorous and challenging, but available on your schedule and at your location.
